Swim Lessons With Dana

Hello, what a great summer filled with splashy fishies. I only provide lessons during the Cvusd summer break. I can put you on the interest list for when I start scheduling lessons around April if you Click here.

(if you are here for product recommendations and links, scroll to bottom.)

I offer private swim lessons to children ages 30 months and up, at my heated backyard pool in Newbury Park.

Happy Swimming

Every year I am asked what sorts of floats and goggles I recommend, if any. First off, your child needs nothing but their swimsuit and a towel for lessons, I have plenty of supplies. Also, I am a firm believer in anything that helps a child enjoy that water safely is better than not enjoying the water or not being safe. That being said the below Amazon affiliate links are to items I recommend and or enjoy. (As  an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.)

Floatie Swimsuit (I recommend these instead of puddle jumpers, which are not conducive to children learning to swim)

Goggles that the kids seem to tolerate more because of the mask-like design

Froggles If your child is super sensitive, or has hair that often gets pulled by traditional goggles, I recommend these.

Sidewalk chalk works in most pools and is a fun way to encourage putting their face in the water.

Shark torpedo, everyone’s favorite toy

Stingray gliders are a new toy I’ve been incorporating into lessons and they have been a big hit!

Nose plugs are sometimes helpful in getting a child’s face in the water, which is vital for swimming.

Towels with hoods leave a child’s hands free in case the fall, here are a few cute ones:

shark towel

dino towel

mermaid towel

turtle towel

This ball skips across the water and the kids love practicing their scoops to retrieve it.

Duck dive sticks are easy to reach and the children get a kick out of them.

Dive rings are not only fun to retrieve from underwater, but also make great pretend steering wheels.

This swim bar (aka kickstick) is really helpful to use for children to practice their kicks.

Reusable water balloons are always a hit!

These are the dive gems we play with after lessons

If you or your family members have a backyard pool, I recommend these as an additional level of protection.
